With the new West Springs Elementary School slated to open in September 2010 (http://www.cbe.ab.ca/schools/underdev/west_springs/west_springs.asp) the West side of the city just becomes more appealing. Aspen Woods, West Springs, Wentworth, and Cougar Ridge are communities that many of my friends have moved to, finding the West side of the city a great place to raise families.
The area is one of the few that is a short commute to downtown, offers easy access to the mountains, has all the amenities already in place, and offers you a wide range of homes from a newer fully finished home for under $500k to the finest executive homes priced from $2-4m. The area truly offers something for everyone.
I just listed a property in Cougar Ridge last night and at $499,900 this fully finished, highly upgraded home won't be on the market long. It's been a great home to a wonderful family since new in 2004 and will be so again for the next family lucky enough to call 44 Cougarstone CM SW home.
Though my family and I continue to be strong proponents of Inner City living the allure of the West side of the city has grown over the past 2 years with two daughters joining our family. It's interesting how priorities change as life evolves...chapters open and close...different priorities emerge as situations change. And home plays a large role in the process. If you think the West side of the city might be a fit for your "next chapter" let me know!
Have a good one!
